Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Barry has been passionate about healthcare ever since he can remember. For a long time, he thought he would become a sports doctor. However, he ended up needing a bunch of dental work done over the years to replace his missing lateral incisors. He was genuinely awestruck by his dental team and how they made him feel. That inspired him to become a dentist, and he’s honored to be spending his days helping others feel the same way!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

An Ohio native, Dr. Barry is a double graduate of The Ohio State University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and a Business Minor in 2017, followed by his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2021. Following graduation, he spent two years at a small-town private office in Rocky Top, Tennessee (just outside of Knoxville). Thanks to his considerable number of continuing education hours, he has great experience with all things general dentistry, but especially enjoys the surgical aspects of dentistry. In fact, Dr. Barry has extensive training in the more modern-trending direction of dentistry, Digital Dentistry. He has taken 3 courses in Charlotte called “Cerec Doctors,” which involve training in using digital scanners in restorative and prosthetic dentistry.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Although Dr. Barry loves all things Buckeyes, his favorite thing to do outside the office is spending time with his wife, their two dogs, and his extended family here in central Ohio. He also enjoys golfing, boating, and volunteering part-time at a Knoxville homeless shelter. Here’s something you might not know about him: he hates chocolate!
